The Bends: 2025 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize finalist

Handmade from sustainably sourced recycled boxboard, this work by Daniel Agdag depicts a submerged building overcrowded atop with the ducts and climate control equipment ruining a once modest art deco structure. Reaching upwards is a repurposed advertising truss with the words “the system isn’t broken the people are corrupt” as a small wooden boat holding some baggage drifts waiting, attached to one of its piers.

Allowing ones civilization to sink is not so much a problem for those who have the means to reshape what’s to come from its ruins.
